Congratulations to Mrs. Rachel Hupp ,Kindergarten teacher, on being recognized this morning as the 2026 CORAS Outstanding Elementary Teacher for Southern Elementary! The Coalition of Ohio Rural and Appalachian Schools is a statewide education entity focused on the needs of rural public schools, teachers, and students. Ms. Rachel has been at Southern Elementary for 19 years. She was a third grade math teacher for 9 years and is currently in her 10th year teaching kindergarten. The recognition ceremony at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth.
All buses will be running all roads tomorrow, February 12. Thank you.

We’re hoping for warm days and all this snow to fade,
Tomorrow morning will be super cold, so plans must be delayed.
The temps will be chilly, some roads still won't be right,

7th boys (tourney) beat River Valley;
JH girls (tourney) beat RV and then fell short to Alexander.;
8th boys (tourney) beat RV:
JV boys fell short vs Wahama; & Varsity boys beat Wahama 66-40.
Girls' game tonight has been canceled. Make up date is Feb. 16 (Sr night so mark your calendar).

Mr. Deem took one quick look,
At forecasts and the weather book,
And said, “No school, it’s not the day—
Let’s all stay safe and warm this way!”
We’re hoping next week will finally be,
A normal week for all to see.
Southern Local will be on a 2 hour delay
tomorrow, February 6. Mr. Deem is monitoring the incoming snow. We will call and send a message if we need to cancel.
