Mr. Pickens’ American History class recently finished their Flanders Fields recitation project. Those students who received an A were awarded a paper “buddy” poppy donated from local American Legions.

Brailyn Lamb, Eastern Senior and her family unfortunately lost their home during the Reedsville fire that occurred yesterday evening. The family is physically well, but the home was a total loss. Any donations of any kind this evening are greatly appreciated at tonight’s Southern EasternGame and will directly benefit the Lamb family as our hearts truly go out to them at this time and all affected by yesterday's fire. Collection points will be available at entry gates, and at the concession stands. #StrongerTogether

Southern Local High School held its annual National Honor Society Induction Ceremony today, recognizing students for their outstanding achievements in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The event celebrated new inductees who exemplify the values of the National Honor Society in their daily lives.
During the ceremony, current NHS officers led the proceedings, sharing reflections on the four pillars of the organization and encouraging inductees to continue serving as role models within the school and community. Families, teachers, and administrators gathered to honor the students’ hard work and dedication.
The newly inducted members proudly took the NHS pledge, signifying their commitment to academic excellence, integrity, and service. The event was a meaningful reminder of the positive impact these students have on Southern Local High School and beyond.

Southern Homecoming Parade: Friday, October 10, 2025 Lineup starts at noon and all should be lined up by 1pm- see Aiden Dodson Students cannot drive any vehicles, tractors, etc… in the parade. This week (9/29/25-10/3/25) kicks off Southern High Schools Homecoming Activities with Service Week. Students have set goals and plan to collect food for those in need and raise money to go toward some charitable events. They will do this through Penny Wars, a food drive, and by participating in Mad Hatter. We would also like to introduce our Homecoming Court: Kindergarten Crown Bearer and Flower girl: Mayson Ash and Harlow Broshears. Attendants: 7th grade- Hadley Booth; 8th grade- Taylor Lewis; 9th grade- Katelyn Wickline; 10th grade- Emma Leachman; and 11th grade- Ali Norris. King candidates are: Murphy Dunfee, Noah Leachman, Kase Nelson, David Kemppel, and Hunter Jarrell. Queen candidates are: Lauren Allen, Jaylynn Hupp, Audrey Riffle, Kiersten Rose, and Laynee Hill. Southern’s Homecoming game will be on October 10th verses Belpre.
