Thank you to Southern graduate (2011) and WWII historian Charley Pyles for taking time out of his day to give a presentation to Mr. Pickens’ American history classes.
Mr. Pyles has collected an impressive array of World War II artifacts and memorabilia, which he shared with the students, providing a hands-on experience that brought history to life. Students were amazed to see actual boots that made the jump into Normandy, sand from all 5 of the stormed beaches, personal items from soldiers, medals, dogtags, and an aor raid siren.
His knowledge and passion for the subject made for an engaging and educational session. We appreciate his dedication to preserving history and inspiring the next generation.
