With the ending of Southern High School’s winter sports season last night, we wanted to take a moment to show our appreciation to the many people who have contributed to its success.
Parents: Thank you for allowing and trusting our coaches with your children and for supporting their participation in Southern Athletics. We appreciate everything you do—from helping with “Feed the Teams,” fundraising, and working concessions, to the day-to-day commitment that comes with having a student-athlete.
Coaches: Thank you for the countless hours you dedicate to preparing our student-athletes. You provide them the opportunity to be part of athletics while also helping shape them into outstanding future citizens. Many will never fully understand the time invested, the sleepless nights, and the passion you show for our students.
Sponsors: Thank you to those who have generously donated money or time to support initiatives such as “Feed the Teams,” game balls, pep bus tickets for students, Hudl, and more. Your support truly makes a difference.
Hudl Sponsors: Darrell Norris & Son Greenhouses, Hill’s One Stop, Bob’s Market & Greenhouses, Farmers Bank, FOE 2171, Kitchens Creations & Renovations, Reliability Inspections LLC, K & S Lawn Service, Ohio Valley Services, The Vaughn Agency Vision Source, Shain Custom Signs, Home National Bank, Rhino Self Storage, Mark Porter Auto Group, Rossiter’s Power Washing, Price Law, River Shine Car Wash, Get Hooked Towing & Recovery, and Robin Fowler Insurance – State Farm.
Athletic Boosters: Thank you to our officers—Carrie Wickline (President), Christie Smith and Stephanie Allen (Co-Treasurers), and Jamie Smith (Secretary). You consistently go above and beyond to support all of our student-athletes.
Staff: Thank you to those who give their time to announce games, ride the pep bus, assist with light shows, take pictures, take tickets, and show up to support students at their events. We also appreciate our bus drivers for safely transporting teams, custodians for setting up and cleaning up, and secretaries for fielding calls and assisting coaches and administrators.
Community: The turnout last night said it all. Our community showed that this small town can fill a gym anywhere when it matters. The positive and exciting atmosphere was incredible. Our student section represented Southern Local with pride and left the gymnasium as clean—if not cleaner—than when they arrived. Thank you to the agencies that escorted the student-athletes to and from events (Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, Racine, Syracuse, and Bashan Volunteer Fire Departments). We also appreciate Poppy Dave (Dave and Mickey Kucsma) for providing live video coverage and Rick Ash and 92.1 FM for their broadcast coverage, as well as the many volunteers who kept the books and ran the clock.
Student-Athletes & Pep Band: Balancing academics while participating in athletics and band is no small task. We appreciate your dedication—on the court, on the sidelines, and on the stage—as well as the way you support your fellow students.
Southern Local has built a strong reputation for both academic and athletic success. Without the people mentioned above—and many others who may have been unintentionally left out—that would not be possible.
Thank you for your support and for the pride you bring to Southern Local High School!
