Southern Local invites all Veterans to our Veterans Day programs on Friday 11/10/23.
PreK -5th grade program starts at 8:15 am
6th-12th grade program starts at 9:30am

RACINE, OH- On Tuesday, November 7, 2023, seniors at Southern High School met with a representative from Ohio University.
OU Senior Admissions Advisor Adam Bjorlin spoke to the teenagers about many topics such as the admissions process, programs available, and scholarships.
The seniors also told Bjorlin what career fields they were interested in pursuing after high school.
Thank you to SHS Counselor Russ Fields and SHS Principal Daniel Otto for the experience.

Mark your Calendars!! The Southern High School Band is hosting a fundraiser and bake sale at the Pomeroy Wendy's on Saturday, December 2nd from 3:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. All sales made at that Wendy's during the 4-hour time frame, 10% of the total sales will be donated to the band. We will even have donation buckets inside and out if not wanting to eat at Wendy's but want to donate or get items from the bake sale instead, for the support of the organization. Thank you to everyone that attended and participated in our 2023 Literacy Night. The winners of our raffle drawings were Jill Proffitt, Deckar Thomas, Emi Brinager, and Avery Stout. The winners of the door decorating contest were: 1st Place Mr. Zach and Ms. Thomas, 2nd Place Mrs. Ash and Mrs. Lisle, and 3rd Place Mrs. Rachel Hupp. We appreciate all the kind words, and look forward to seeing everyone again at Math and Science night in the spring.











We wish the best of luck to CC runner Edie Templeton in Regionals at Pickerington North and to our VB team as they take on Waterford in the District Championship at Southeastern today.

Literacy Night. October 30. 5-7pm


RACINE- On Monday, October 23, 2023, seventh-grade students in Ms. Jenny Manuel's classroom were given a brief lesson on welding as a part of a career exploration initiative. Mrs. Amy Roush also accompanied the group.
The students were excited to go to the high school to listen to a presentation by Ms. Jenna Meeks.
Ms. Meeks went over safety procedures and gave the students protective gear. She discussed a couple of types of welding including Arc, Mig, and Cutting Torch.
The seventh graders said they had fun watching the high school Agriculture Mechanical Principles (Shop 1) class in action. They stayed at a safe distance to watch the welders.
Thank you to Ms. Meeks and the high school students for hosting a seventh-grade class. Thank you to Ms. Jenny Manuel and Mrs. Amy Roush for allowing the class to participate in the career exploration initiative.







RACINE, OHIO- On Monday, October 23, 2023, Project RISE’s Amy Robinson and Kami Perritt visited Southern High School.
They stopped by Mr. Alan Crisp’s classroom to talk to students about careers in different fields. Mrs. Brittany Hill was also in attendance.
They also played Career Taboo to help students learn about different professions.

Rio Grande, OH- On Wednesday, October 18, juniors at Southern High School went to the University of Rio Grande for a college fair.
Representatives from dozens of colleges and universities were on hand to help students prepare for their futures.
Thanks to SHS Counselor, Russ Fields; teacher, Gary Kapp; and Career Coach Beth Lanning for supervising the trip.
