Racine Southern FFA Holds FFA Week

Racine Southern FFA recently celebrated National FFA Week, February 23rd- 27th,  with a series of activities that brought members together and highlighted the importance of agriculture and leadership in the community. Throughout the week, members participated in themed dress-up days, including blue and gold day to show their pride in the organization. The chapter also hosted events such as teacher appreciation, games to encourage involvement from the entire school. Members took time to share information about FFA and agricultural education, helping others understand the opportunities the organization provides. The week concluded with a special gathering that recognized active members and encouraged continued participation. Overall, FFA Week was a success for Racine Southern FFA, strengthening chapter spirit and promoting the values of leadership, personal growth, and career success.

Monday, February 23rd, the FFA chapter held a tractor/farm safety day, where headstart through 6th graders were invited to see and hear about the importance of being safe while running a tractor/be around farming equipment. They also got to learn about different parts of a tractor and what they do. FFA members also got to drive their tractors to school and park out front by the road for the community to see. The dress up day was ‘Merica Monday where students wore red, white, and blue colors. 

Tuesday, February 23rd, Strawberries arrived, this is one of our most popular fundraisers our chapter does to help raise funds for future FFA events. Our Livestock Judging Team traveled to Gallia Co. for the Livestocking Judging CDE Invitational. The dress up day was country hawaiian, where students mix country and hawaiian clothes.

Wednesday, February 25th, FFA Officers held our annual Ag olympics in the high school gym. Grades 7th- 12th all gathered in the gym and the option to participate in these fun games. Some of the games were apple bobbing, pedal tractor, lasso, feed sack race. The class of 2029 were the official Ag Olympics winner and will get their class year engraved on the traveling trophy. The dress up day was memaw and papaw day where students dressed as the elderly. 

Thursday, February 26th, The FFA chapter taught Ag in the classroom with 3rd graders where they did fun activities such as weld with crackers and cheese, making icecream, to learn about the dairy industry, learning about soil layers with cereal, and learn facts about farm land and cattle. We do this each year to help promote and educate our youth about agriculture in their everyday lives. The dress up day was FFA day where students wore national blue and corn gold colors. 

Friday, February 27th, the FFA chapter went around and collected pop tabs from each grade, we asked each grade all week to bring in pop tabs. Our chapter then take these to the Ronald Mcdonald house. The donations help fund expenses for Ronald McDonald house throughout the year. The class with the most pop tabs brought in was Mrs. Roses-5th grade class and their prize was fresh donuts with some chocolate milk. After school the FFA students gathered at the Greenwood Cemetery and cleaned up trash and old flags to better the cemetery. The dress up day was fisherman/woman where students wore fisherman clothes and brought their fishing gear along with them. 

In conclusion, Racine Southern FFA Week was a meaningful and successful celebration that brought members together while highlighting the importance of agriculture, leadership, and community involvement. Through engaging activities and shared experiences, students were able to strengthen their connections, showcase their dedication, and promote the values of FFA.
