masked reader

Southern Elementary had an amazing time celebrating Read Across America Week with a variety of fun activities! One of the highlights of the week was listening to a video story read by the Masked Reader. Each day a staff member, disguised inside an inflatable costume, read a story that was videotaped for each class to watch.

Students eagerly watched the videos, discussed clues, and submitted their guesses of who they thought the reader could be. It was so exciting to see their reactions and hear their ideas about who the readers might be!

Mrs. Connolly, our literacy coach, led Friday’s assembly where the mystery was finally solved! Our masked readers were:

🦄 The Unicorn – Mrs. Warden (3rd Grade)

🦆 The Duck – Mrs. Ash (5/6 Grade)

🐸 Prince Frog – Ms. Debi Bradford

🐿️ The Squirrel – Mr. Hoffman

🐙 The Octopus – Mrs. Guinther

It was a wonderful week filled with laughter, creativity, dress up, and a lot of great books. Most importantly, it helped spark excitement and a love of reading in our students! 📖✨
