Embri Hawkins, 2nd grade

Embri Hawkins has been selected as Student of the Month for her outstanding work ethic and positive character. She consistently completes her assignments on time and always puts forth her very best effort. Embri follows school rules and expectations and models respectful behavior each day. She is kind to others and willingly helps classmates when they need support. We are proud of the example Embri sets for our school community!

Jenna Hill, 4th grade

Jenna Hill is a student who consistently gives 100% effort in everything she does -- even when things are hard. She is hardworking, kind, caring, and she is friendly to all students. Always helpful and dependable, she willingly steps up when asked and never gives up. Although she is new to Southern this year, she has worked incredibly hard to become a positive and valued part of our school community and we are so proud to have her as part of our Tornado family!

Sydney Warden, 9th grade

Sydney has been selected as Student of the Month for being a kind, honorable, and hardworking student. She consistently puts forth strong effort in all of her classes and sets a high standard for her classmates. Sydney is respectful and helpful to both her peers and her teachers, and she contributes positively to our school community each day. She is a wonderful representation of what it means to be a Tornado!

Murphy Dunfee, 12th grade “Not in attendance”

Senior Murphy Dunfee has been nominated for his outstanding hard work and dedication at SHS. He proudly represents SHS through the Meigs County Chamber Student Ambassador program and consistently demonstrates leadership, responsibility, and school pride. Murphy shows up with a positive attitude, a willingness to help, and just enough humor to keep everyone smiling. Whether working events, helping others feel included, or simply being his authentic self, he leads with kindness and respect and makes a meaningful impact on those around him.

Shelly works tirelessly to teach and prepare our students so they can be the very best they can be. She demonstrates outstanding classroom management skills and thoughtfully adapts her teaching to meet each child’s unique learning style. Her creativity and dedication help foster a love of learning in her classroom every day.Shelly truly cares about her students and their success. Her passion for education is evident not only in the way she teaches, but in the positive relationships she builds with her students and colleagues. She is an exceptional team player, and her experience and expertise are deeply appreciated by all who work alongside her. Hailey Staats

Hailey is a truly dedicated paraprofessional who consistently goes above and beyond for her students. She supports them academically throughout the school day while also ensuring they feel celebrated and cared for in meaningful ways. From organizing school birthday celebrations to providing Christmas gifts, Hailey works hard to make sure every child feels special. She even gives her own time after school to support students who need extra help. Her kindness, generosity, and commitment create a positive, nurturing environment where students feel valued and loved.Hailey’s selfless dedication and unwavering support make her an outstanding example of what it means to serve students with heart.
