Coach Caldwell

Racine, Ohio — Southern Local is proud to recognize Coach Jeff Caldwell for surpassing Mr. Charles W. Hayman in having the most wins in boys' varsity basketball at Southern Local.

Coach Caldwell reached this milestone on Saturday, January 3, 2026, during the Spartan Classic at Alexander High School. Southern defeated Crooksville to secure Coach Caldwell’s 218th career win at the helm of the Hustlin’ Tornado program.

Coach Caldwell is the 29th head coach in the history of Southern Local boys’ basketball. Previous coaches include: D.B. Williams, Pressley Clark, Paul Haskin, Waid Roberts, Henry Fisher, Roger Daniels, C.L. Snyder, Paul Stewart, Charles W. Hayman, Ernest Wingett, Pearl Reichley, George Miraben, Leon Morris, Ernest Wiseman, Charles Norris, Larry Morrison, Mike Morrison, Craynor Slone, Jim Adams, Hilton Wolfe Jr., Asa Bradbury, Bobby Ord, Carl Wolfe, Howie Caldwell, Jay Rees, Jonathan Rees, Steve Randolph, and Richard Stephens.

Together, these past coaches and Coach Caldwell’s current total of 218 wins combine for 1,471 victories in Southern Local boys’ basketball history.

This marks Coach Caldwell’s 19th season at Southern. While we look forward to many more wins, his most lasting impact continues to be the positive influence he has had on countless young men throughout his coaching tenure.
