RACINE- The Sisters Health Foundation has awarded a $2,000 grant to the Southern Local School District, specifically to the Wellness Clinic, to enhance patient health services through the acquisition of nebulizers and associated tubing. This funding aims to support patients with respiratory conditions, ensuring they receive timely and effective care.
The addition of nebulizers and tubing will be particularly beneficial for kids and adults with asthma and other chronic respiratory conditions, ensuring they have prompt access to necessary treatments.
School nurse, Junie Maynard, FNP, said nebulizers are essential medical devices used to deliver medication directly into the lungs, especially for those with asthma or other chronic respiratory conditions.
“In a school setting, timely access to a nebulizer can prevent breathing difficulties from escalating into emergencies. It's crucial that school staff are aware of students who require nebulizer treatments and that the equipment is accessible, clean, and used correctly. Educating students on their proper use promotes independence and helps them manage their condition confidently, supporting their overall well-being and academic success," Maynard shared.
This grant underscores the Sisters Health Foundation's dedication to promoting health and well-being by supporting initiatives that address immediate health needs and enhance access to essential services.
Thank you to the Sisters Health Foundation for the generous grant. Thank you to the Athens-Meigs Educational Service Center for partnering with Southern to secure the funding.
