Racine, OH: Southern Local School District held their annual Academic Banquet on May 6, honoring some of their brightest students (top 15% of their class). Southern Local would like to thank our Academic Banquet Sponsors: Home National Bank and Dorall LLC. We would also like to thank our partners: Carmel Sutton Church and Racine Methodist Church.
The evening started with a welcome from Superintendent, Mr. Tony Deem. Student Council and National Honor Society President, Mr. Carson Reuter, led those in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Otto, 7-12 Principal, followed with the introduction of guest speaker and the night's Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Brayden Otto. Mr. Brayden Otto was the Valedictorian of the Class of 2024 and is currently studying pre-dentistry at The Ohio State University. He then gave a short speech of guidance and hope to the students being honored. Miss Audrianna Herrera, Class Secretary/Treasurer and National Honor Society Secretary, gave the Invocation. Honorees and guests enjoyed a fine meal, prepared by Powell’s Food Fair, and served by the school staff. Mr. Deem then introduced the honorees for the evening while SLSB President, Mrs. Brenda Johnson, presented the students a plaque. Pictures were taken by Grace (Wolfe) Casci of Roots Photography. Mr. Robert Beegle gave a presentation on behalf of Middleport-Pomeroy Rotary. Jordan Pickens, Southern Local Education Association President, gave one monetary award to a lucky honoree from each grade represented. Miss Katie Brooker, Student Council Secretary and National Honor Society Treasurer, closed the evening with the Benediction.
