Racine, Ohio: Southern Local Board of Education recognized outstanding students and staff at tonight's meeting through their STORM student, Student of the Month, and Teacher/Staff Member of the Month programs. Southern Local would like to thank Home National Bank and its President, Mr. John Hoback, for supporting this program.
STORM Student of the Month K-3
Payton Carroll- 3rd grade
Payton has exceptional character and dedication both in and out of the classroom. Payton is highly engaged in her studies and consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic, giving 100% to everything she does. She is kind to her peers and always willing to be a team player. Her competitive nature drives her to excel, while her moral values guide her to always do what is right. When she helps other students, she does not give them the answers, rather she guides them to find out the information for themselves. She is quick to point out the success of others, which fosters a positive environment of support. Payton’s leadership skills, kindness, and commitment are a model for all Southern students.
STORM Student of the Month 4-6
AlexZander Starcher- 6th grade
Alexzander Starcher is a standout sixth-grade student. His dedication to his studies is evident in his consistent hard work, particularly in language arts, where he excels significantly beyond his grade level. A gifted writer and performer, AlexZander possesses a natural talent for creative expression, fueling his passion for writing. Beyond his academic achievements, his kindness and positive attitude create a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere for his peers. He consistently demonstrates respect and empathy, making him a valued member of the classroom and a true embodiment of a model student.
Student of the Month 7-9
Isabella Morrison- 9th grade
Isabella has outstanding behavior at school and is dedicated to her learning. She consistently shows respect to both her teachers and classmates. She always completes her assigned tasks on time and comes to class fully prepared. Her positive attitude toward learning sets a great example for others. Isabella is always very kind and is quick to help her classmates when they need it. She contributes to a welcoming and productive classroom environment. Her strong character and commitment make her a successful student. On top of her studies, Isabella participates in extracurricular activities, where she works to excel as well. She is someone who we can be proud to call a Southern Tornado.
Student of the Month 10-12
Jaylynn Hupp- 11th grade
Jaylynn embodies the Tornado Code through her passion for helping others, her dignity, and impeccable work ethic. Not only is Jaylynn a prominent figure in athletics, but she also excels in her academic pursuits. She is dedicated to her academic progress and diligently works toward the long-term goals she has set for herself. Throughout this school year alone, Jaylynn has worked with multiple younger students, tutoring them and offering her own time to help them. Her commitment to helping the younger students at our school makes a positive impact on so many. Jaylynn is a wonderful role model for all students, always demonstrating respect and kindness to everyone. She isn’t afraid to ask questions when she needs to and is willing to work hard when the task requires it. Jaylynn is an academic leader and a valued athlete in our school district. She is a true Southern Tornado.
Teacher of the Month
Rachel Cornell
Rachel has made an amazing impact on the students in our school. She is always willing to help, in whatever way she can. She goes above and beyond to guide her students towards success, leading to huge amounts of growth and progress for them each year. Rachel works hard each and every day to make sure that her many students are receiving high quality speech instruction. She communicates well with everyone who is working with each of her students, making her a wonderful team player. Rachel is unmatched in her kindness and care for others. She is always there to listen to her coworkers when they just need someone to listen, and she offers support when they need a little bit more. She has made our speech program a cornerstone of special education at Southern.
Staff Member of the Month
Carmen “Cricket” Adkins
Cricket consistently demonstrates exceptional dedication, goes above and beyond in her role as Assistant to the Treasurer, and has made a significant positive impact to the Treasurer’s office and the district. Cricket consistently exceeds expectations. Beyond her technical skills, Cricket also possesses outstanding qualities, including a strong work ethic, effective communication skills, integrity, dependability, loyalty, self-reliance, determination, and is 100% a team player. Cricket is a truly outstanding employee and she is a valuable asset who is instrumental in the success of our district. She is someone who takes pride in her work and who the district can be proud to say that she’s on our team.
