STEAM Night

SOUTHERN LOCAL HOLDS “STEAM” NIGHT

Racine, OH  - Tuesday, March 26, 2024 

Over 300 Southern Local students and families participated in a vast array of science, technology, engineering, art, and math activities this past Tuesday evening, put on by Southern Local staff and representatives from area organizations as part of Southern’s STEAM Night. 

Families were welcomed by Southern Local administrators, where their names were entered into prize drawings, consisting of Science and Art kits donated by area stores, COSI Learning Lunchboxes, art supplies, and passes to Aha! Children’s Museum, Discovery World on Market, Ohio Valley Museum of Discovery, and COSI, all donated by each respective organization. 

Southern Local students in grades preschool through 12th worked hard with their teachers to complete STEAM related projects that were displayed throughout the entire building for families to enjoy

.

Representatives from the Meigs County District Public Library, Rural Action, OSU Extension Office, Meigs Soil and Water Conservation District, Discovery World, The Ohio Academy of Science, WOUB Learning Lab, Project Rise, Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Valley Museum of Discovery, Hopewell Health, Coplin Health, Ohio University CoLab, Meigs-Gallia CASA, Southern High School Spanish Club, Southern 7-12 STEM Classes, and Southern High School math classes, along with Southern Local staff members, presented 23 stations with activities for families to participate in. 

Activities ranged from multiple types of robots, to arts and crafts, with many fun activities in between.
