Racine, Ohio: Southern Student’s Work Gets Published

When asked about how it feels to be a published author, Collin just beamed a big smile and gave his teacher a fist bump.

Collin Smith, a sophomore at Southern High School, recently achieved a significant milestone by having his short story, titled “Betrayed” published in the Young Writers Anthology Hunted- Fight to be Free. The publication of his work not only showcases his exceptional talent but also highlights his love for writing.

Collin explained that he began reading when he was four years old; significantly younger than the average student. He also stated that he began writing at five. His skills have increased tremendously since then with the support of his family. His father also enjoys writing, and has had his work published as well.

While he is consistently doing his required English work in school, Collin is always writing on his own. He is drawn toward deep and detailed character development within the dystopian style of fiction, and he is always exchanging ideas with his friends who also share his love of writing.

Collin plans to continue honing his writing skills and exploring different genres in the future. His success serves as a reminder that creativity knows no age boundaries and that young voices have the power to shape the literary landscape.

As Collin’s story finds its way into the hands of readers, it is clear that a promising literary journey lies ahead for this young and gifted writer. In a world where storytelling is a timeless art, Collin stands as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring writers of all ages. As his teacher said to his family, “This is Collin’s first time being published-not his last.”
