Skyler Allen, Dylan Garner, Kyson Neutzling, Carter House

Ms. Ryan Davis and Mrs. Jonna Turley

Racine, Ohio: Southern Local Board of Education recognized outstanding students and staff.

The "STORM" students are:

Mrs. Tricia McNickle, Miss Carter House, Mr. Denny Evans

Carter House, 3rd grade: Nominate Carter House for STORM Student of the month. I chose to nominate Carter for the following reasons; this school year Carter has really stepped it up and is a definite asset in my classroom! Carter displays STORM qualities throughout every academic day. She displays self control through not yelling at others, or being mean to others and instead she tries to truly understand what is wrong with them or how she can help them. She takes responsibility by walking to Ms. Zelinsky's class by herself for lunch and recess, she cleans up after herself and others, she helps in the classroom in all different situations, and she always places her items in her cubby as she prepares to learn. Carter is always on time and ready to learn. She has a positive attitude towards learning and always has what is needed for each lesson. Carter displays respect through all faucets of the day. I have had several staff approach myself and Carter stating that she is so very polite and speaks so very respectfully to everyone that she encounters. Last, Carter makes a positive difference everyday, she starts the day with a smile, takes care of others and shows them love! She is the most positive learner and that brightens everyday in my classroom!  - Leslie Dunfee

Mrs. Tricia McNickle, Mr. Kyson Neutzling, Mr. Denny Evans

Kyson Neutztling, 5th grade: I would like to nominate Kyson as STORM student of the month. Kyson exhibits many characteristics of a STORM student. I have worked with Kyson for the last three years, and watching Kyson develop into the student he is today reminds me of why I chose teaching as a profession 22 years ago. Kyson's academic success is due to his hard work and ambition to succeed in the classroom. He is always more than willing to help others when they need it. His kindness is shown not only to his peers, but also to his teachers. When I see Kyson, whether in the classroom, the hallway, or if he peeks his head in my room, he makes me feel so proud of him; Kyson is a wonderful STORM student. - Mrs. Jenni Roush

Students of the Month are:

Mr. Dylan Garner, Mr. Denny Evans, Mr. Daniel Otto

Dylan Garner, 8th grade: I nominate Dylan for "Student of the Month". Dylan is a joy to have in class. He participates in class discussions. His willingness to help others defines his character. He is always the first to volunteer when I ask for someone to help, and the best thing is the positive attitude he enters my class with every day. - Ms Lori Sharp

Miss Skyler Allen, Mr. Denny Evans, Mr. Daniel Otto

Skyler Allen, 10th grade: I have seen Skyler grow and mature in and out of the classroom. Skyler recently took on a vacant FFA officer position of Secretary and has succeeded already. She has since taken on this new leadership role with pride and has worked very hard at all the duties she has been tasked. She has gone above and beyond my expectations and I am excited to see what FFA/Ag has in store for her this year. In the classroom; she is a great role model and also shown great leadership by helping her peers on assignments and projects and not afraid to ask for help when needed. She was also named on the State FFA Urban Soils Team! I am very proud of her and excited to see what the rest of the school year will bring for her. -Jenna Meeks

Mrs. Jonna Turley, Mr. Denny Evans

Jonna Turley: I nominate Jonna as Employee of the month at Southern Local because Jonna goes above and beyond to care for all the students and staff. Jonna works many hours dedicating her time to her job and truly deserves to be recognized for it. Jonna she does her job as good as anyone and she is always so nice to kids and is willing to help anyone or any child, she's just a plus to this school district.

Ms. Ryan Davis, Mr. Denny Evans

Ryan Davis : Ryan has gone above and beyond at her job here at Southern High School. Not only is she a great math teacher but she also does a great job leading our student council. I have seen her put her heart and soul into our school and students.

Southern Local would like to congratulate all that were recognized tonight. Thank you to Home National Bank for sponsoring our STORM and Students of the Month.
