THE PLAINS, OHIO- On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, more than 300 students from across Southeastern Ohio attended the OHSAA Foundation Student Leadership Conference at Athens High School.
From Southern High School, Jaylynn Hupp, Katie Brooker, Carson Reuter, Brayden Otto and David Kemppel were invited to attend.
The fantastic guest speakers included: Dan Leffingwell, Jimmy Burrow, Jim Cleamons, Otis Winston and Harvey Alston.
The professionals shared their stories in hopes of inspiring the teenagers. They also gave students advice on how to be a hard worker and leader while tuning out all the negativity in the world. They spoke about the importance of teamwork, being respectful, honorable and truthful.
Students from Eastern High School also recapped last year’s About Hope Always event. They shared how students from all three schools in Meigs County worked together to make the event possible.
Thank you to the students and staff at Athens High School for hosting the event and serving SHS students pizza for lunch.
