More Information (Directions)

Most college bound students will need help paying for college. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is what students will complete yearly before they enter and while attending college. The FAFSA opens yearly after January 1 and uses your federal income tax information from the previous year to judge how much financial need each student will need for the next school year. If you are a parent who claims their college bound son or daughter on their taxes, you should make available a copy of your income tax return to help them complete their FAFSA. FAFSA can be completed on paper or online (online is much quicker). The paper version takes about 3 weeks to process while the online version takes only days. Please take this into consideration when completing the FAFSA so that you can meet the appropriate deadline. Even if you do not think you will qualify for federal student aid, it's important to complete the FAFSA anyway. Most students will not be eligible for scholarships unless they complete the FAFSA. Please visit www.fafsa.ed.gov to complete the FAFSA. Both students and a parent will need a PIN to complete it. Information on how to obtain a PIN is available on the FAFSA website.
