DEFINITION/DESCRIPTION OF AWARDS
Latin Grad: In May of 2021, the SLBOE voted to change our class ranking system from a weighted system to a Latin style ranking system. Instead of having a top ten, valedictorian, salutatorian, etc… using a weighted system, we will NOT use a weighted system, but will have a GPA with requirements (student must take 10 honors/AP, or CCP equivalent courses in HS career to be eligible- does not include labs connected to an honors course) to graduate in one of the following categories: 1. Summa Cum Laude (3.9-4.0 GPA) 2. Magna Cum Laude (3.7-3.899 GPA), 3. Cum Laude (3.5-3.699 GPA), 4. Merit (3.5-4.0 GPA), or 5. Graduate. Courses considered to be honors (CP= college prep) courses: CP-English 11/12; CP-algebra 1, algebra 2, geometry, pre-calculus, calculus; CP- physical science, biology, biology II, chemistry, anatomy & physiology; CP- Spanish 2, 3, 4. The Principal with consultation with the School Counselor, can accept additional CCP courses to count towards the 10.
Key: Goes to the student that the corresponding department feels is most deserving. This can be through having the highest GPA in that subject, the most effort put forth, taking the most classes possible in that content area, showing greatest potential in that area, etc…
FFA Scholastic: Awards the student with the top grade point average in each class. The FFA takes great pride in the fact that our top GPA students are all in the top portion of their entire class. Each grade level received an award at our annual FFA banquet.
FFA Outstanding Senior: The Outstanding Senior Award is designed to honor a senior who has demonstrated outstanding leadership throughout the year. Leadership qualities must be present in the classroom, in FFA, and through their SAE program. This year’s recipient has continually led by example, provided leadership, been exceptional in the classroom and has had an excellent SAE program.
4-year Agriculture Class Award: Goes to students taking four or more agriculture courses throughout their high school career.

Receiving this award is an honor of achievement and can enhance the students’ future plans.
Activities Award: The Activities Key is given to the person who has maintained a record of involvement throughout his or her high school career in clubs and organizations and has contributed extensively to class projects. He or she has successfully held school offices or positions of responsibility and has been active in community projects. This student shows initiative and contributes constructive ideas to the organization in which he or she belongs.
Citizenship Award: The Citizenship Award is given to a male and female in the senior class who put service to others above self-interest, gives time, effort, and talents not for personal gain but for the class, school, or community as a whole.
