Hi, I have some information about virtual open house, meet the teacher via google meet, pickup of remote learner devices, first day of school, arrival and dismissal, and food delivery .
Thursday, September 3rd at 1 pm, teachers in grades 1-6 will be hosting a google meet to talk to the students. Please go to www.southernlocalmeigs.org and click on the Open House link. Also within that link, the teachers have a google slide with information, in case your child cannot participate in the google meet. The slide show can be accessed at any time. Wendy Beegle's first grade google meet will be Friday, September 4th at 1 p.m. If you do not know which homeroom your child is in, the lists are posted on the front doors of the school. Students who are doing remote learning will also be able to participate in the google meets and watch the slide show.
If your child is a remote learner this year for grades K-6, please stop by the school Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to pick up your child's device and information. If this time does not work, please call the school to schedule a time next week.
The first day of school for grades 1-12 is Tuesday, September 8.
The first day of school for Headstart, Preschool , and Kindergarten is Wednesday, September 9.
Please note that for your child's safety, students are not to arrive before 7:30 a.m.
Please note the change in dismissal, due to COVID 19. We appreciate your patience as we try this new procedure.
Dismissal for car riders will go as follows.
Headstart, Preschool, and Kindergarten parents - Please do not arrive at the school before 1:20 p.m . Headstart, Preschool, and Kindergarten will dismiss at 1:35. Parents will park in the designated areas along the curb in the order of headstart, preschool, and kindergarten. If you have more than one child in this grade band, please park in the area for your youngest child. Please remain in your cars until 1:35 p.m. At that time, get out of your cars and stand on the sidewalk next to your car and your child's teacher will bring your child to you.
Grades 1-3 parents - Please do not arrive until 1:40 p.m. You will not be able to get into the pickup area until this time. The first car to arrive will pull all the way up to the Kathryn Hart Community Center and then the next car will pull up behind that car and so on. Please remain in your cars until 1:45 p.m. At this time, please stand on the sidewalk next to your car and we will bring your child to you.
Grades 4-6 parents - Please do not arrive until 1:50 p.m. You will not be able to get into the pickup area until this time. The first car to arrive will pull all the way up to the Kathryn Hart Community Center and then the next car will pull up behind that car and so on. Please remain in your cars until 1:55 p.m. At this time, please stand on the sidewalk next to your car so your child can see you, if you feel this is necessary. If you would like your grade 4-6 child to be a walker and walk to the church, please notify your child's teacher in writing the first day of school.
If you have a child in the first and second dismissal groups, you may pull up to the Kathryn Hart Community Center after the first dismissal. If you have a child in the first and in the third dismissal groups, you will need to park in the parking lot until after the second dismissal group. Only cars of the students in the dismissal groups will be permitted to be along the curb at the designated times.
Please note that you must arrive at the designated times and stay in your car until the dismissal time for that grade band, due to COVID 19 safety precautions. If you are unable to get out of your car, please notify us so we can accommodate you. Please bear with us, as we are adjusting to guidelines.
Buses will leave the school at 2:10 p.m. each day.
Tomorrow, September 3, COAD will be here passing out a week's worth of food from 12:45 p.m. to 2 p.m. Please look for the truck that will be parked under the trees as you pull into the front entrance.
Please make sure to turn in your child's paperwork before the end of the day Friday.
We are looking forward to a great school year. Please email me if you have any questions.
