Who I Am

After graduating from Rio Grande Universtiy in 2000, I started my teaching journey at Southern Elementary . While here I have grown to understand the needs of every child and to treat them how I would want to be treated in their own unique situations. I also attended Ohio University and received my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership in 2012 .  This will be my 17th year teaching and Coaching at Southern Local and I can't imagine being anywhere else.  In my spare time, I enjoy finding ways to make healthy food fun, life in the outdoors, and working out with friends.

Homework

Homework will be minimal and will only let you know what weekly skill, facts and words we are working on. The homework will be written in the agenda nighlty and also be presented on Class Dojo, so it is important that you sign up at the beginning of the year. There will be a reading book sent home nightly. This will be for fluency practice for third grade. They will not take a test over the story but over another story with the same elements. Students should be able to read these stories fluently and with expression while also retaining what they are reading. I also suggest students read a book of their choice for enjoyment nightly. This is an important year in regard to reading and the Third Grade Guarantee. Please make sure you ask plenty of questions about the Third Grade Guarantee so that you understand what is expected of your child and this test. The more they read and understand the better they will perform on the test. Math homework will be aboout knowing facts fluently and in text. We will send home examples daily. Math class will consist of fluency of facts, using facts in word problems, math journals, and math games.
