About Me: I am a 2012 graduate of Ohio University where I majored in AYA Integrated Social Studies Education and minored in History, with a focus in South East Asian History. I was a member of the C.A.R.E. Partnership where I had the opportunity to speak at a national teaching convention in Las Vegas, NV. While at OU, I was a member of The Ohio University Marching 110, and a Trumpet Marching Section Leader for one year and a Music Section Leader for two. With the band I traveled to: Pasadena California, New York City, Mobile Alabama, New Orleans Louisiana, and played at many NFL games. I must say, I had a very exciting college career. This year will mark my sixth year teaching at Southern High School.
What I Expect: I expect a lot out of my students in terms of grades, behavior, and personal growth. Students should come to class prepared and ready to work every day. They should work hard and do their best and to achieve good grades in class. I am here to help as much as humanly possible but I will NOT do work FOR students.
Syllabus: Students will be receiving a course syllabus on the first day of school. This will need to be understood, signed, and sent back. If you have any questions regarding the class, refer to this first.
Communication: Every parent/ guardian must contact me ant least once every nine weeks. What this does, is allow students, parents, and Mr. Maxson the ability to discuss grades and any other issues that may arise. Communication is key if you are to do well in all of your classes. Parents/ Guardians can contact me in a number of ways: Emails are prefered, but meetings during parent/teacher conferences are welcomed as well. Also, should a telephone call be needed you may reach me by calling the school between 3pm and 4pm on most days.
Class Web Page: On this page you will find everything you need for this class. Copies of the syllabus, class rules, and important information can be accessed through the links on this page.
Parent Portal: Parents, this is your haven for all things Social Studies in my class. You will be able to see upcoming tests/quizzes, and other various class related information. Please refer to the class syllabus for more information.
